Porsche Wins Three Golden Steering Wheel Awards For 2014

Porsche swept the Golden Steering Wheel Awards for 2014, with three models each winning one of the prized trophies, as chosen by the readers of two German automotive publications and an international panel of judges.

The three Golden Steering Wheel Awards reflect that the winning Porsche models constitute some of the best and brightest vehicles of the year. They are: the Porsche 911 Targa, Porsche Macan S Diesel (best SUV), and Porsche Cayman GTS (best sportscar).

Accepting the awards were: Chairman of the Executive Board Matthias Müller, Board Member for Research and Development Wolfgang Hatz, and Porsche Head of Style Michael Mauer. Regarding the Golden Steering Wheel Award won by the Porsche 911 Targa, the latter remarked: “This award is a very special one for us, because it validates the connection between the timeless design of the original Targa and the modern sportiness of the 911 as perceived by its fans across Europe.”

The Porsche 911 Targa was voted for by over 200,000 readers, enough to crown it winner of the pure reader poll in Germany, and six other European countries. This is the first time that Porsche has ever won three Golden Steering Wheel awards in the same year.
