4.2L Audi V8 Swapped MK1 Toyota MR2 Is A Low Budget Audi R8: eBay Find

The Audi R8 V8 has slowly started to come down in price over the years and is now at a point where it is actually affordable for people who don’t belong to the 1 percent. Despite this, some of us will still never be able to afford such a luxury, but one MK1 Toyota MR2 owner decided he needed to have a mid-engined Audi-powered sports car no matter what, so he improvised.

The builder of the car, Paul Wood, showhorned a 4.2-liter Audi V8 into the MR2 right where the 1.6-liter four-cylinder turbocharged engine used to sit. The engine is also hooked up to a six-speed manual gearbox, giving you a powertrain which is almost the exact same on paper as an R8 V8’s.

There’s a few other small mods to help the little MR2 deal with the large V8 engine’s power, such as new coilovers, Porsche 996 911 brakes, a half roll cage and more. The seller says the car would make an awesome race or track day car, or “an insane road car,” which sounds mighty appealing to us.

Check out the listing here for more information. If you have £10,995 ($17,062 USD) and want something totally unique, why not pull the trigger? Granted, you might have to have a wire loose in your brain to actually drive the thing on the road.
