Audi Prologue Convertible Imagined In New Rendering

The Audi Prologue Concept gave us a glimpse into the future of Audi design, which will be led by design chief Marc Lichte. The full-size two door is believed to also hint at Audi’s upcoming answer to the Mercedes-Benz S-Class Coupe, which will likely be called the A9.

The idea of a full-size convertible is a bit old school, but that didn’t stop X-Tomi Design from drawing up a droptop version of the Prologue Concept. The 5.1-meter long vert looks pretty good as it sports its new topless appearance and red interior, reminding us slightly of Audi’s current A5 Cabriolet.

The thought of a full-size convertible may illicit images of huge, pre-war soft top sedans, but Mercedes clearly sees demand for them in modern times, given that development of the S-Class Convertible is well under way. The Prologue has already been confirmed for production in the way of the next-generation A8, and if a coupe model is in the the cards, it’s very likely that a drop-top will be, as well.

If we ever see a convertible Prologue/A9, it will likely make its debut following that of the hardtop, which is rumored to take place in late 2015.
