Ford Sollers, a joint venture between Ford Motor Company and JSC Sollers in Russia, has begun production of the Ford EcoSport subcompact crossover for the Russian market at its new plant in Naberezhnie Chelny, Republic of Tatarstan.
The facility is Ford Sollers’ second vehicle assembly plant in the Republic of Tatarstan, and third overall in Russia. The EcoSport is the first vehicle to be built at the Naberezhnie Chelny plant, which has an annual production capacity of up to 115,000 vehicles and employs 1,500 people. Next year, the facility will begin producing the Ford Fiesta five door for the Russian market.
