Porsche Factory Driver Mark Webber Is A ‘Lucky Boy’: Follow-Up

Following his heartwrenching crash in Brazil last weekend, Porsche Factory Driver Mark Webber was well enough the following day to return to Twitter, telling fans that he was “a lucky boy.”

“The correct angle of impact saved me. Thanks everybody for your incredible messages and support. #recovering” the driver tweeted. Despite his needing to be pulled from the wreckage of the No. 20 Porsche 919 Hybrid, Webber was conscious, waving to fans and giving a thumbs up as he was being loaded for transport to the medical tent.

The official website for Mark Webber quoted the former Formula One star with the following: “I’m quite sore this morning and am pretty bruised and have got a stinking headache. I’ve got no recollection of the accident or how it happened – the team is looking into the details to find out more.” The Guardian is reporting that the driver sustained a concussion and bruising from the gruesome crash.

Mark Webber continued: “On a positive note it’s great that the boys in car no. 14 managed to bring home the victory which is a fantastic way to finish off the season.”

“I’m already looking forward to getting out there again next year.”
