‘Shift’ Car-Sharing Service To Add Tesla Cars To Fleet

Throwing yet another hat into the cluttered ring of trendy, tech-reliant alternative taxi/car-sharing services is “Shift,” a Zipcar-esque entity that still has yet to launch. As the startup is still in its late-gestation period, some of the details surrounding its operations are pretty scarce. But, according to The Car Connection, we do at least know that the car-rental/taxi service will be incorporating some number of Tesla cars into its fleet.

For its monthly membership fees that start somewhere around $25, Shift is planning on offering a range of transportation services like car and bicycle rentals, as well as Tesla cars with chauffeurs at the wheel. From the sound of it, the customer won’t actually be able to rent and drive any Tesla cars through the service. Certainly, a pity. Still, it’s good news for Tesla Motors, which will have a steady repeat fleet customer — assuming Shift ever gets off the ground, or does so anytime soon.

Currently, Shift operates out of Las Vegas, Nevada and if it catches on, we fully expect it to launch in other urban areas nationwide, as well.
