As Jeremy Clarkson once put it back in 2004, the Volkswagen Golf GTI is “all things to all men.” An apt summarization… but wouldn’t you rather have a Porsche?

That gets you all-wheel-drive performance, Porsche pedigree, heaps of luxury options, the superb Type-996’s looks, and just 42,252 miles on the clock. A charcoal gray exterior encapsulates a well-preserved black interior, and best of all, the car has the proper (read: manual) transmission.
Okay, sure, the GTI might be the more sensible buy of the two, and being brand new, you could likely rest assured that the interior wasn’t tainted by the presence of rolled mucous, fecal matter, or other unsavory things. But if there is one thing to be said about this Porsche 911 Carrera 4S, it’s that its appeal is more than large enough to overcome these small hangups.
