2016 Ford GT To Be Featured Cover Car Of Forza Motorsport 6

On the heels of the introduction of the quasi-production 2016 Ford GT at the 2015 North American International Auto Show in Detroit, the Dearborn-based automaker announced a new collaboration with Microsoft and Turn 10 Studios that should make video game fans fawn and faint: the new Ford GT supercar will be the featured cover car for Forza Motorsport 6 on the Xbox One.

In addition, Ford’s entire performance vehicle lineup will appear in Forza Motorsport 6, including the Mustang Shelby GT350 plus the F-150 Raptor and the aforementioned Ford GT. The latter two performance vehicles were revealed at the 2015 North American International Auto Show.

“It is an honor to share this historic moment with Ford and celebrate the legacy of the GT by making it the featured cover car of Forza Motorsport 6,” said the head of Xbox, Phil Spencer. “We’re thrilled to have the unique opportunity to announce Forza Motorsport 6 the day the car debuts – on one of the biggest stages in the automotive industry – and we can’t wait to share more details on the game later this year.”

As faithful readers are likely aware, the Ford GT is serving as Ford’s technology showcase thanks to the performance of its 600-horse 3.5L EcoBoost engine, advanced aerodynamics, and lightweight carbon fiber construction. The Ford GT will begin to hit dealerships in select markets around the world late next year.

“The Ford GT is the ultimate execution of an enthusiast supercar – delivering ultra-efficient EcoBoost performance, driver-centric technology and lightweight carbon fiber construction,” said Ford group vice president of Global Product Development, Raj Nair. “Working with Microsoft and Turn 10 Studios allows us to share our all-new GT supercar with an unprecedented global audience – giving fans an opportunity to virtually experience the beauty, thrill and innovation of Ford’s performance lineup.”

“We’re excited to unveil gameplay at E3 in June”, added creative director at Turn 10 Studios, Dan Greenawalt.
