Ford has released a video of the press conference from the 2015 North American Auto Show in Detroit, Michigan where it unveiled the all-new 2017 Ford Raptor. These events are typically full of pomp and circumstance, and this reveal was no different. The video shows the stage Ford built at the Joe Louis Arena adjacent to the Cobo Center for the reveal.
Once the Raptor takes the stage, Ford President of The Americas, Joe Hinrichs leads off by saying the new Raptor is the “toughest, smartest and most capable Raptor ever.” The “toughest” relates to the new high-strength steel frame; the “smartest” relates to a new high-output 3.5L EcoBeast engine that is more powerful than the V8 in the first-gen Raptor, along with the new 10-speed transmission and smart terrain management system; and the “most capable” relates to the Raptor’s new Fox shocks, which are larger and better than before. Plus, the 500+ pound weight-loss through the aluminum body panels significantly improves the Raptor’s capability. All of these improvements add up to an incredible improvement over the previous generation model.
