Ford Le Mans GT Expertly Rendered

Is The Blue Oval creating a Le Mans racer variant of its 2016 Ford GT supercar unveiled at the 2015 Detroit Auto Show? All signs point to a hardy “yes”; after all, rumor has it that the biggest reason that Ford has brought back its supercar is to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the original GT40’s historic victory at the 1965 24 Hours of Le Mans by re-entering the competition. And now, Top Gear has provided a look at what an upcoming Ford Le Mans GT racer could look like.

Made by RC82 Workchop, the rendering could be based on images seen in the recently-spied behind-the-scenes video of the GT’s design. The rendering shows off reshaped lines and air intakes, as well as a huge rear wing and central rear fin per the latest LMP1 prototypes. The addition of proper racing tires and wheels, along with some sponsorship decals create something very believable.

Besides the information already known about the road-going GT, what Ford plans on doing with the GT in motorsports is still a mystery. However, we certainly hope that a Le Mans racer comes to life, especially in that killer Gulf livery seen in the rendering that you can see here.
