Leaked Documents Lay The Porsche 911 GT3 RS’ Goodies Bare

The Porsche 911 GT3 RS is slowly coming into focus, with our most recent revelations regarding the highest watermark in the Type-991 range — 500 HORSEPOWER!

Apologies; we’re not quite sure where that came from. But yes, leaked documents reviewed by the folks at Motor Trend have revealed that the Porsche 911 GT3 RS will make a wondrous 500 horsepower from its 4.0-liter, normally-aspirated flat-6! The wundermotor‘s torque stands at 339 lb-ft with an 8,800 RPM redline, and the uncanny ability to produce soiled trousers out of clean ones.

Motor Trend also reports that the new Porsche 911 GT3 RS will boast direct-injection and an all-aluminum construction. The mass carried around by said wundermotor will be significantly reduced through use of a magnesium roof panel, polycarbonate windows, and carbon fiber just-about-everything-else (front fenders, hood, decklid, fixed rear wing, seats). And, for the time being, the Porsche 911 GT3 RS will be available only with a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic.

Yes, yes; moan all you want. But if the PDK is the only transmission truly capable of tapping into every last bit of output from the 4.0-liter boxer-6, who are we to question its application here?

Expect the hot new Porsche 911 GT3 RS at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show in March.
