Rally Legend Walter Röhrl Hurls A Porsche Cayenne GTS, Turbo S Around On Ice: Video

Walter Röhrl is truly nothing short of a legend in the world of rally racing. The Porsche Cayenne is nothing short of a legend in the camp of “things that peeve Porsche purists.” What if the two legends were to meet?

They did, and the result is actually pretty fantastic. Walter Röhrl had the occasion to drive both the Porsche Cayenne GTS, and Porsche Cayenne Turbo S across a wide open sheet of inviting ice and snow, in Skelleftea, Sweden. The result is the tail-wagging, ice-chucking, heart-thumping video you see below.

Just a quick refresh: the Porsche Cayenne GTS has adopted a biturbo 3.6-liter V6 in favor of the old normally-aspirated V8, pushing power up to 440 HP and torque up to 443 lb-ft. The Porsche Cayenne Turbo S, meanwhile, makes due with a humble little turbocharged 4.8-liter V8, putting out an incredible 570 HP, with 590 lb-ft.

In the video, Mr. Röhrl concludes: “I never thought it possible that an SUV would be so agile in its steering reaction. This is an off-roader with the DNA of a sportscar.”
