Watch A Gangly 28 Year-Old Elon Musk Take Delivery Of A McLaren F1: Video

Tesla Motors CEO Elon Musk is today a painfully wealthy, confident, capable Silicon Valley celebrity. And it’s precisely these attributes which make watching a young 28 year-old Musk take delivery of a McLaren F1 supercar so damn funny.

Road & Track shared this video, which depicts a segment of a documentary about millionaires wherein a nerdy, awkward 28 year-old Musk receives the $1 million McLaren F1 he purchased to celebrate his first mega-successful enterprise: Zip2, an online news publishing program.

Musk’s then-fiancee Justine Wilson also appears in the video, stating that she hopes the million-dollar McLaren F1 doesn’t turn Musk and herself spoiled. But Elon Musk, wearing what looks like it could be his father’s suit, simply beams at the car, eager to take it for a spin.

Of course, unbeknown to Musk, he would go on to crash the super-rare McLaren F1 on the freeway sometime later. But let’s not break that news to him here. The sale of Zip2 which paid for the supercar garnered Mr. Musk an astonishing $400 million – in cash. Much of that money went straight into his next big project – X.com – which would later spawn PayPal, before Musk finally ended up exercising his gearhead mentality with the valuable business entity with which just about all of us are familiar: Tesla Motors.
