Watch An Incredible 1977 Porsche 935 Turbo Sprint Around The Track: Video

There are few things in this world that get our mouths more moist than watching (and hearing!) exquisite vintage race cars do their thing.

Take this 1977 Porsche 935, for instance. The Porsche 935 was a spin on the road-going Porsche 911 Turbo, built to conform to FIA race car specs. It looks rather like a classic Porsche 911 “slantnose” in the front, minus the pop-up headlamps. But the flames shooting without fail from the tail pipes every so often; that is decidedly un-classic.

Plenty of examples of the Porsche 935 made their way into the hands of customers, as the car was quite popular with private racing teams. It made about 560 HP from its downsized 2.85-liter flat-6, thanks to a handy 1.4 bar or so of boost.

This ’77 example Porsche 935 sounds absolutely superb, with a nasty, uninhibited growl that could tear the ears off an elephant. The picnic table of a rear wing and the wide, aerodynamic body flares at the rear lend the car a killer look to match.

Keep an especially close eye out for the flames, at 0:43, 0:45, 0:51 – pretty much throughout.
