Climb Aboard A Porsche Cayman GT4 For A 7:42 Nürburgring Lap: Video

When the Porsche Cayman GT4 came along sometime ahead of the Geneva Motor Show, we fell instantly in love. Here was a car for whom a pure, holistic sportscar experience was as integral as in every iteration of the Porsche Boxster Spyder and (arguably) 911 GT3, but with the hardtop lacked by the former, and the mid-engine layout missing from the latter.

The attention to detail paid off in spades, too, with the manufacturer proclaiming that the Porsche Cayman GT4 could circle the famous Nürburgring Nordschleife circuit in just 7 minutes, 40 seconds. That’s as fast as the previous-generation 911 GT3 from 2011.

Here with an exhilarating lap of the Nürburgring just two seconds shy of that official time is Christian Gebhardt, Journalist and Test Driver from the German magazine Sport Auto. Note the immense amount of cornering grip as the car chews through every turn, the smooth, predictable progression at the limits of adhesion, and the sound of that untamed 3.8-liter flat-6.

But most importantly, just be sure and take in Gebhardt’s massively impressive driving cojones as he pilots the Porsche Cayman GT4 around the “Green Hell” nearly as quick as physically possible.
