Ford Brings Back Childhood Memories With F-750 Tonka Dump Truck

Those who have had the satisfaction of playing with a Tonka toy truck at some point during their childhood will be happy to know that there is now a real-life, really-capable Tonka Dump Truck from Ford.

That’s right, The Blue Oval has teamed up with Funrise Toy Corporation, the manufacturer of Tonka-branded products under license from Hasbro, to create the F-750 Tonka Dump Truck.

Based on the 2016 Ford F-650/F-750, the F-750 Tonka Dump Truck wear the signature TONKA yellow hue with a custom blackout nostril grille and a fully-functional dump body from Truck Tech Engineers. With a gross vehicle weight rating of 33,000 pounds and Ford’s 6.7-liter Power Stroke V8 diesel engine, the F-750 Tonka Dump Truck is capable of hauling loads of over 50 percent of its own weight, while truly making it the ultimate work truck. Meanwhile, the 6.7-liter Power Stroke is available in three output levels, including:

  • Best-in-class standard 270 horsepower, 675 pound-feet of torque
  • 300 horsepower, 700 pound-feet of torque
  • 330 horsepower, 725 pound-feet of torque

This tag-team approach is sensible, as Tonka trucks are as widely known as Ford’s F-Series truck. At least that’s the correlation Ford’s marketing team would like consumers to make. “People of all ages have been counting on Ford F-Series and TONKA trucks to get the job done – from construction site to sandbox – for more than 60 years”, said John Ruppert, general manager of Ford Commercial Vehicle Sales and Marketing.
