Ford Named 2015’s ‘Most Innovative Volume Brand’ In Germany

Ford Motor Company has been named the ‘Most Innovative Volume Brand’ for 2015 by the Centre of Automotive Management in Germany. The award was given to the automaker during the annual AutomotiveINNOVATIONS Awards ceremony, which aims to recognize the year’s major innovations in automotive engineering.

Awards were given to Ford for its new safety and driver assistance systems. These include Active Park Assist, which will automatically maneuver the car into a tight parking space, and Active City Stop, an automatic braking system that can operate at speeds of up to 50 km/h (about 30 mph). AutomotiveINNOVATIONS jurors also recognized Ford’s new 1.0-liter EcoBoost engine and new Electronic Stability Programme when considering the automaker for the award.

“AutomotiveINNOVATIONS identified the future trends in the automotive industry on the basis of more than 1,200 technical innovations,” Centre of Automotive Management director Prof. Dr. Stefan Bratzel said. “The award for Ford as ‘Most Innovative Volume Manufacturer’ proves the innovative power of the brand. With Focus and Mondeo, many of the innovations have already found their way into production.”

In addition to winning the overall innovation award for a volume brand, the 2015 Focus also won its class for innovation, while the Mondeo finished in the top three in its class.
