Volkswagen Unveils New Scirocco GTS Ahead Of Shanghai Motor Show

Volkswagen has introduced the updated Scirocco GTS ahead of the sleek hatchback’s debut at Auto Shanghai 2015 later this month. The new GTS replaces the outgoing GTS model and will be set apart from standard Sciroccos by its model exclusive paint job and alloy wheels, among other changes.

Just like before, the Scirocco GTS will be powered by the 217 horsepower 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder also used in the Golf GTI, while both a DSG and 6-speed manual transmission will be on offer. This setup will enable the GTS to sprint from 0-60 mph in 6.5 seconds and reach a top speed of 152 mph.

Complimenting the sporty drivetrain will be standard red brake calipers, R-Line bumpers and side skirts, a hatch spoiler, dual exhausts and a rear diffuser. Also standard are 18-inch alloy wheels (pictured) however larger 19-inch units are optional. Further enhancing the visual look of the GTS are standard black wing mirrors and optional ‘GTS’ decals.

The sporty treatment continues inside with piano black trim, red stitching, black seats with embossed ‘GTS’ logos, GTS badging on the dash and stainless steel pedals. Rounding out the major changes is the addition of VW’s updated modular infotainment system, first seen on the MK7 Golf. The system is an optional extra, along with leather trim, xenon headlamps and a panoramic sunroof.
