2015 Shelby Mustang Super Snake Arrives With 750 Horsepower

The Ford Shelby Mustang GT350 and GT350R are high-performance Mustangs of the highest order, but they are more suited to the track-day enthusiast than the between-the-lights racer. For the old-school drag racer, Ford and Shelby have officially unveiled the 2015 Mustang Super Snake, the third iteration of the now recognizable Super Snake name.

All 2015 Shelby Super Snake Mustangs are based on the 5.0-liter V8 GT model. The transformation from Mustang to Super Snake starts with a Ford Performance supercharger, which bumps output to 750 horsepower, Ford says. Joining the engine upgrades are the necessary wheel, tire and brake upgrades, with Shelby throwing in 20-inch Weld Racing wheels shod in Michelin Pilot Super Sport Rubber and six-piston Wilwood brakes. Both six-speed manual and six-speed automatic versions will be on offer.

You’ll be able to tell Super Snake Mustangs from standard models thanks to a model-exclusive carbon fiber Shelby hood, an optional aero kit, a larger rear spoiler, racing stripes and bevy of special Super Snake and Shelby badges. Occupants of the interior will also notice more special badging, Super Snake branded upholstery and floor mats and a 3-gauge dash pod.

Super Snake Mustangs will command $49,995 on top of the price of the Mustang GT base car. You better pick up the phone and start dialing if you’re interested, as Shelby American and Ford say they will only build 300 examples this year.
