2016 Fiat 500X To Serve As Grand Marshal For Motor City Pride Parade

The 2016 Fiat 500X will serve as the grand marshal for this year’s Motor City Pride parade, leading those participating in this year’s LGBT festivities as they march through downtown Detroit. This year marks the fourth year in a row Fiat has served as a sponsor to Motor City Pride, which is set to start on June 6 and continue through to June 7.

In addition to providing the grand marshal vehicle, Fiat will also have brand ambassadors on hand to showcase the brand’s vehicles and give away freebees to festival goers. The automaker says the “horsepower” behind its sponsorship of Motor City Pride is its internal LGBT Employee Resource Group, which enables FCA employees in the USA to “celebrate their special attributes together, while bringing awareness and value through volunteer and charitable activities.”

“We are honored to have such a prominent role with this year’s Motor City Pride,” FIAT Brand boss for North America, Jason Stoicevich, said in a statement. “Supporting the LGBT community and the diversity of all of our customers is paramount to the FIAT brand. I am proud of what FCA US and the brand have achieved in creating an inclusive work culture, a culture that helps generate vehicles that resonate with diverse buyers and communities.”

FCA is a leader in the U.S. for providing domestic partner benefits to its employees, having started the practice in 2000. It has also earned a perfect score of 100 percent on the Human Rights Campaign’s Corporate Equality Index nine times, making it the only automaker to consistently achieve the perfect rating.
