Advance Sales For 2016 Audi R8 Open Up, First Deliveries Expected This Autumn

Audi has officially opened up the order books for the second-generation R8 V10 in Europe. The Four Rings’ all-new flagship model, unveiled at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show, boasts new and improved looks, a revised 5.2-liter V10 engine, new technologies and an updated Quattro all-wheel drive system, setting it apart from its wildly successful predecessor.

The new Audi R8 is available in standard V10 versions and in uprated V10 Plus guise. The R8 V10 plus, with its 610 horsepower 5.2-liter V10, is the fastest and most powerful production Audi ever, able to accelerate from 0-60 mph in 3.2 seconds and reach a top speed of 205 mph.

Apart from the revised powerplant, the R8 now features Audi’s drive select system. Standard on V10 Plus models and optional on base models, the system allows drivers to scroll through a list of pre-set traction, shift, steering, and engine settings tailored for different road surfaces including dry, wet and snow and ice.

Other new features on the R8 include a revised Quattro all-wheel drive system able to send 100 percent of the engine’s torque to the front or rear wheels, an updated S-Tronic 7-speed gearbox with a fuel-saving coasting function, dynamic variable ratio steering and much more.

The new Audi R8 will deliver exactly what customers expect from a high-performance sports car,” said Audi Board Member for Technical Development, Prof. Dr. Ulrich Hackenberg. “This car brings our concentrated motorsport competence from the racetrack to the road.”

Standard R8 V10 models will fetch a 165,000 euros price tag, while V10 Plus cars will start at 187,400 euros. Those who got their advance order in early May should receive their cars by late Fall.
