Audi Puts Range Of 2.0L Diesel Engine On Display With A6 Road Trip

Audi seems to have a thing for taking road trips under special circumstances. Earlier this year the automaker chauffeured journalists from San Francisco to CES 2015 in Las Vegas in an A7 piloted driving concept, and now, they’re attempting to set the record for the most countries visited under one tank of fuel.

Auto journalist Andrew Frankel and racing driver Rebecca Jackson were chosen by Audi to drive an Audi A6 TDI with the automaker’s 2.0-liter four-cylinder diesel engine across nine different European countries. For the voyage to be successful, the pair will have to average over 67 MPG, which shouldn’t be an issue thanks to the small oil burner under the hood.

Audi planned the driving route carefully in order to avoid congested cities, traffic jams and other range-shrinking obstacles. The trip will start in the Netherlands and bring the A6 TDI through Belgium, Luxembourg, France, Switzerland, Lichtenstein, Austria, Germany, and finally, Italy.

Keep up with Frankel and Jackson on Twitter as they attempt to complete the 1,000 mile road trip.
