Audi R8 LMS Crashes, Is Repaired In 2.5 Hours, Qualifies On Pole

Rainy conditions caused problems for many race teams during this past weekend’s Chevrolet Detroit Belle Isle Grand Prix, but Paul Miller Racing’s crew had one of the biggest obstacles to overcome. After hydroplaning and wrecking their No. 48 Audi R8 LMS Ultra GT3 during practice, the crew had to set to work and repair the car in time for qualifying.

With a lot of hard work and a little luck, the team was able to full repair the R8 LMS in just 2.5 hours. Dion von Moltke made up for slamming the V10 race car into the wall by setting a lap time of 1:33.546, taking pole position for the Tudor United Sportscar Championship race.

It’s stories like this that remind us that racing isn’t all about the driver. Having good engineers and a good pit crew behind you is perhaps even more important, and Paul Miller Racing appears to have some of the best guys in the whole TUDOR field in their garage.
