Fiat-Chrysler Automobiles reported May 2015 sales of 202,227 units in the United States, an increase of 4 percent on a year-over-year basis.
The results represent the 62nd consecutive month of year-over-year sales gains, and seven FCA US vehicles posted sales records. In addition, sales exceed 200,000 units for the first time since March 2007.
May highlights (vs. May 2014, except as noted):
FCA US finished the month of May with a 69-day supply of inventory of 540,509 units. Internally, the automaker projects U.S. industry sales figures for May at an estimated 17.9 million units Seasonally Adjusted Annual Rate (SAAR).
Alfa Romeo sales totaled 40 units:
All Alfa Romeo sales were made up of the 4C
Fiat sales down 18.95 percent to 3,867 units:
The 500X was responsible for 8 sales as the first units of the vehicle began to arrive in FIAT studios
All Fiat models posted drops on a year-over-year basis
Chrysler sales up 31.91 percent to 29,802 units:
200 sales up 537 percent to 20,007 units, its best monthly sales ever and the largest year-over-year percentage gain of any FCA US vehicle in the month. May was also the ninth-consecutive month that the 200 logged record sales, topping its previous all-time monthly record in March of this year.
All other Chrysler models posted drops on a year-over-year basis
Jeep sales up 13.46 percent to 79,652 units for the brand’s best-ever monthly sales results and its 20th-consecutive month of year-over-year sales gains:
Cherokee was up 22.99 percent to 19,669 units, its best monthly sales ever
Grand Cherokee was up 0.78 percent to 18,209 units
Patriot was up 30.82 percent to 10,782 units, its best sales in the month of May. The Patriot’s 31 percent year-over-year increase was the largest sales percentage gain of any Jeep brand model for the month.
Wrangler was up 16 percent to 22,324 units, its best monthly sales ever and the first time that the model topped 20,000 sales during a month
Renegade was responsible for 4,416 sales during its second full month on the market, up 5 percent compared with April 2015 sales
Compass was the only Jeep model that posted a drop on a year-over-year basis
Dodge sales down 21.85 percent to 45,268 units:
Challenger was up 29.4 percent to 7,438 units, its best monthly sales ever
Dart was up 0.27 percent to 8,667 units
Durango was up 0.21 percent to 6,084 units
All other Dodge models posted drops on a year-over-year basis
FCA attributes the drop in Dodge sales on a changeover at the Windsor Assembly Plant in Windsor, Ontario, where the Dodge Grand Caravan and Chrysler Town & Country are built. The plant resumed production of Grand Caravans in late May.
Ram sales up 11.98 percent to 43,598 units:
Ram pickup up 7.6 percent to 39,952 units, its best May sales in 11 years
ProMaster Van up 145.98 percent to 2,541 units, its best May sales since the full-size van was launched in October 2013
