Ford Transit And Its Variants Will Receive Notable Upgrades For 2016

The Ford Transit is the best-selling van in America, according to the automaker – a title which it promptly inherited from another Ford: the E-Series.

For the 2016 model year, available at dealerships in September of this year, the Ford Transit, Transit Connect, and Transit Connect Wagon will be granted a host of shiny new options.

Most notably, the 2016 Ford Transit will be available with Ford’s new SYNC 3 infotainment system. The automaker boasts that this newest installment of SYNC has been given faster performance, a more simplistic touch-screen interface, and improved voice recognition. Now standard for all 2016 Ford Transit van and wagon models is a rear-facing backup camera with Trailer Hitch Assist, which lays a helpful graphic over the camera feed to aid drivers in lining the vehicle up with a trailer.

For those who need to upfit their 2016 Ford Transit with auxiliary lights and equipment, new options include auxiliary fuse panels, and an AGM (absorbed glass mat) battery to power them. Ford Transit Connect wagons can also be optioned with a heavy-duty alternator to pump out more amperage for upfit accessories.

Says Ford Brand Manager for Transit/E-Series Yaro Hetman of the new van: “Transit customers appreciate that the vehicle is purpose-built to serve their businesses, and the enhancements we are making for 2016 are driven by customer feedback. We are making America’s best-selling commercial van even smarter and more flexible.”
