Former Stig Ben Collins Confirms The Shelby Mustang GT350R Is Bonkers: Video

We’ve never driven a Shelby Mustang GT350R, but from the minute we laid eyes on it, we knew it was going to be quite the handful to drive. With a high-revving 5.2-liter flat plane crank V8 pumping out 526 horsepower and sending it to the rear-wheels through a six-speed manual transmission, there was no way it was ever going to be kind to the heavy-handed.

Top Gear’s former resident racing driver, Ben Collins, recently learned just how crazy the GT350R really is at the 2015 Goodwood Festival of Speed. He was selected by Ford to drive the muscle car up the hill on Lord march’s estate, and from the minute he launched it off the line he had his hands full, the car dancing around the narrow track as Collins searched for grip anywhere he could find it.

Collins’ battle with the GT350R made for quite the spectacle, and the impossibly loud racket being spouted from its four exhausts really added to the whole experience. At the end of his run, Collins looks at the camera gives it the ‘screw loose’ hand gesture, confirming the GT350R’s positively deranged personality.

Luckily Ford posted the video of the run on their YouTube page, so those of us not lucky to be at Goodwood this week could enjoy it too. Check it out below, and let us know what you think in the comments.
