Porsche 918 Spyder Beats A Veyron Super Sport In The Quarter Mile: Video

Have you ever wanted to see a Bugatti Veyron Super Sport drag race a Porsche 918 Spyder?

You’re welcome.

The video below shows perhaps the two most famous and celebrated hypercars of the new century duking it out on the quarter-mile, three different times. It’s about as high-performance as you can get in the span of a two-minute video.

A majority of people would probably incorrectly assume that the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport would win without so much as breaking a sweat, but they would be wrong; the three quarter-mile runs in this video actually show the Porsche 918 Spyder to be the victor twice, and a brief bit of text toward the end of the video reveals that out of six total runs, the Veyron only managed three victories. While the Super Sport obviously has the edge in terms of peak power output, acceleration has more to do with the area under the torque curve, and that lends the Porsche 918 Spyder and its electric drive motors a bit of an advantage.

Obviously, the Bugatti also weighs more.

Were these two hypercars in the hands of different, more professional drivers, who knows what the result might have been? But importantly, according to the video’s author, the Porsche 918 Spyder also achieved the quickest time of the day.

We’ll call that a win.
