Spy Photos Capture The Lamborghini Aventador SV Roadster

The nearly $500k coupe version of the Lamborghini LP 750-4 Aventador SV shocked us when it sold out within about 3 months of its introduction – all 600 units of it. That’s a quick turnover for such an extraordinarily expensive car.

Time will tell whether the confirmed Aventador SV roadster sells with near the same expedience, as the SuperVeloce convertible isn’t expected to bow until the Frankfurt Motor Show in September.

But well in advance of that, we have our first few images of the car sans cognito; the full gallery can be seen over at Autoblog.com. Like the folks at that outlet, we anticipate the same 740 HP, 6.5-liter V12, and ISR (“Independent Shifting Rods”) 7-speed single-clutch, automated manual gearbox. Truly an engineering marvel, Lamborghini’s ISR transmission can shift in a scant 50 milliseconds.

All this is to say that the Lamborghini Aventador SV roadster likely won’t differ from the coupe version in any way but two: a convertible top, and some consequent weight gain. But of course, the added pounds ought to be kept to a minimum; Lamborghini doesn’t very well want to impair their own 2.8-second 0 to 60, now do they?
