2017 Audi R8 Spyder Spied Lapping The Nürburgring: Video

Just last week, a video purporting to show a camouflage-clad 2017 Audi R8 Spyder carving its way around the curves of the famous Nürburgring surfaced on YouTube, giving us an advance look at what to expect from the drop-top supercar in terms of exterior styling.

The Audi R8 Spyder will be powered by the same mid-mounted 5.2-liter V10 engine as both the R8 V10 and R8 V10 Plus. The former of these features a less-potent engine tune, resulting in approx. 530 HP and 398 lb-ft of torque. The previous generation V10 Plus was available only as a coupe; chances are, this will remain the case, leaving the Audi R8 Spyder with only the less-potent of the two engine tunes.

As with each of the coupe versions of the latest R8 supercar, no manual transmission is likely to be offered on the 2017 Audi R8 Spyder, leaving it instead with a 7-speed dual-clutch “S-Tronic” gearbox. But unlike with the previous generation car, no substantial weight gain is expected as a result of moving to a convertible body style. The first-generation Audi R8 Spyder weighed some 200 lbs more than its coupe equivalent.

Be sure to check back in the future for more info as it becomes available.
