Buying a McLaren P1 GTR is unlike making any other purchase. Rather than taking delivery of the car at the dealer and driving it home, McLaren holds onto it and ships it to different circuits around the world for track day events with other P1 GTR owners. You also get complimentary racing lessons, and not from just any driver, but from former Formula 1 driver Bruno Senna.
If you didn’t know, Bruno Senna is the nephew of the late and legendary Ayrton Senna. Bruno raced for Hispania, Renault and Williams during his tenure in F1 and is now an FIA Formula E driver and apart of McLaren’s GT driver roster. So worry not, P1 GTR owners, you’ll be in good hands when learning how to drive your wildly expensive and highly exclusive track day toy.
Senna’s training will take place at the different P1 GTR track day events scheduled in 2016. These include events at Circuit de Catalunya, Sepang International Circuit, Circuit of the Americas, Silverstone, Monza, the Red Bull Ring, Spa Francorchamps, Bahrain International Circuit and Yas Marina. P1 GTR owners also get access to the McLaren driver simulator, you know, in case instruction from a Senna isn’t enough.
