Deadmau5′ Lamborghini Huracán Takes Home An Importfest Award

Many of those who are familiar with DJ Deadmau5 and his music must certainly be aware of his relatively high profile in the automotive realm; he famously sold a Ferrari 485 Italia after receiving a cease and desist letter from the automaker requesting that he remove a “Nyan Cat” vinyl wrap from the Italian supercar.

In defiance of that Italian marque, Deadmau5 was quick to purchase a Lamborghini Huracán instead, and apply a similarly Nyan Cat-themed wrap to that car, earning it the nickname “Purracan.”

According to autoevolution, that Lamborghini Huracán has now won an award at Canada’s Importfest car show, taking home a trophy for the category of “Baddest Lamborghini.” Some might eagerly, pessimistically come to interpret that to mean “worst Lamborghini,” as the over-the-top, irreverent wrap from studio Sekanskin surely ruffles a few feathers.

However, we have no doubt that the award was meant as an earnest nod to the genius that is the Lamborghini Huracán “Purracan.” What’s more, we agree; so long as a car’s wrap design isn’t exposing motoring children to inappropriate or offensive content, one should be free to re-skin their own car as they choose.

Way to stick it to Ferrari, Mr. Deadmau5.
