Mark Webber Turns 39, Celebrates By Taking Delivery Of A Porsche 918 Spyder: Video

We’d like to wish a very happy, belated birthday to Porsche factory works driver Mark Webber. The Australian racing driver celebrated his 39th birthday just yesterday.

As it turns out, we’re talking about a man who truly knows how to celebrate; he allocated a portion of the day to taking delivery of a one-off Porsche 918 Spyder, his birthday gift to himself.

Mark Webber’s customized Porsche 918 Spyder is painted red with white shapes in a so-called “Salzburg Design,” quite effectively recalling the color scheme and design on the No. 17 Porsche 919 Hybrid he co-pilots in this year’s FIA World Endurance Championship. As a matter of course, it’s also fitted with the optional Weissach performance package, which sheds weight and improves aero.

The Porsche 918 Spyder is an appropriate fit for Mr. Mark Webber, both because it’s the passenger car counterpart to the 919 Hybrid race car, and because it joins the racing driver’s growing fleet of Porsche sportscars. He also owns a Type-997 GT3 RS, a GT2 RS, and most recently, the Australian Porsche aficionado acquired a classic 356.

Obviously, knowing of the stunning engineering and design that went into the Porsche 918 Spyder, we can say that Mark Webber has made a good choice. And as far as owners go, this hybrid supercar couldn’t possibly have found one better.
