McLaren 570S GT And 570S Spider Inbound, Reports Say

The McLaren 570S was introduced to give McLaren customers more choice when walking into the British marque’s showrooms. Now, if a buyer doesn’t want the full fledged 650S, they can opt for the less powerful and less expensive 570S, however customers are about to be hit with even more variety if a new report from Autocar is any indication.

McLaren sources have confirmed that a more comfortable, luxurious 570S ‘GT’ model is on its way, due to arrive shortly before the drop top 570S Spider in 2017. The 570S GT is rumored to have additional storage space, which comes courtesy of a conventional rear trunk. It’s not entirely clear how McLaren has worked a trunk into a mid-engine supercar, but you can be expect clear styling changes for the 570S GT compared to the standard 570S.

Both the 570S GT and 570S Spider are expected to retain McLaren’s now customary ‘monocell’ carbon fiber tub and 3.8-liter twin turbocharged V8 engine. Autocar says the Spider variant will come with the same 562 horsepower and 443 lb-ft of torque as the coupe and will likely turn out the same 3.2-second 0-60 mph time and 205 mph top speed.

Based on the $15,000 price gap that separates the 650S and 650S Spider, the 570S Spider will likely cost about $200,000 when it hits U.S. showrooms. Due to the uncertainty surrounding the model, its hard to guess what the 570S GT may cost, however we wouldn’t be surprised if it was the most expensive model in the 570S range.
