New ‘Xchange Leasing’ Program Launches For UberX Contractors

Say what you will about Uber Technologies and its recent altercations with Johnny Law; the company’s tenacity for continuing business-as-usual (or unusual, for that matter) is undeniable.

That much is evident in the company’s most recent headline-making news: that it is launching a new “Xchange” Leasing Program across select cities in the US.

Simply put, Uber Technologies has managed to leverage deals with several automakers in order to offer UberX drivers unique, flexible leases on new and used vehicles in an attempt to attract more contractors. Motor Trend reports that through this new leasing program, UberX drivers can lease for up to three years with unlimited mileage, complimentary maintenance, and minimal hassle – including a low-cost “opt-out” available for the first 30 days of the lease.

Unfortunately, only a select few UberX drivers will be able to participate in the new Xchange Leasing Program; Motor Trend reports that at least initially, it will only be available in select cities throughout California, Georgia, and Maryland. The list of participating auto dealers is short, too, including only dealers for the Big Three, Hyundai, Nissan, Toyota, and Volkswagen.
