The Concours d’LeMons: A Car Show Pour Le Rest Of Us

If you ever have the occasion to attend the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance in California, you will see the unmistakable four-wheeled vestiges of wealth: vintage racing cars, rare one-off concepts, and the like, all immaculately preserved and prepared in a contest of wills to see which genteel lad can make which gasp first.

But when you’ve had your fill of that for a while, you might want to make a trip out to one of several “Concours d’LeMons” events: the car show for the rest of us.

According to Bold Ride, the Concours d’LeMons is a show for the unpretentious, who just want to show off whatever weird, wacky, perhaps even unsavory cars wouldn’t be welcomed at the nearest country club concours. Entrance is free, and it’s free to display a car; it’s a concours for the unmoneyed and the unpretentious, with awards such as “Most Dangerous,” “WTF?” and “Worst of Show.”

The next Concours d’LeMons is scheduled for August 15th near Monterey, California. That puts it a mere 8 miles from this weekend’s Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance, on the same weekend.

Doubleheader, anyone?
