Upcoming Lamborghini Hypercar To Cost $1.2M, Will Have 20 Unit Production Run

We’ve slowly been receiving information on Lamborghini’s rumored LaFerrari-fighting hypercar. It started with word that Lamborghini would show a new Aventador-based car in private to wealthy customers at Pebble Beach, and continued with word that it may called ‘HyperVeloce‘. Now, we’re getting word it will cost $1.2 million and just 20 examples will be produced.

When we first heard about Lambo’s new hypercar, it was believed 20 coupe and 10 roadster models would be built. However Yahoo! now says a total production run of 20 models is planned, so it’s still not entirely clear just how exclusive the ‘HyperVeloce’ will be. The price of the car is also notably inexpensive compared to other limited-edition Lamborghinis like the $4.5 million Veneno or $2 million Reventon, for example.

So far it seems the HyperVeloce will be utilize the Aventador’s 6.5-liter V12 engine coupled with some sort of hybrid powertrain system, though it’s impossible to know for sure this early on. What we do know is that we’ll have to wait until the 2016 Geneva Motor Show next March to find out what this new mystery Lambo is really about.
