2016 Ford Focus RS Offers Up 350HP And AWD For Just $36,605

In July, we heard a rumor the 2016 Ford Focus RS would start at $35,730, which we said would make the newest RS model quite the performance bargain. It turns out that bit of intel was right on the money, with Ford today announcing the hot hatchback will start at $36,605 including an $875 destination charge.

Ford has also confirmed their 2016 Focus RS will produce 350 horsepower, resulting in a 0-62 mph time of 4.7 seconds. That makes it faster than the Volkswagen Golf R, which completes the sprint in 4.9 seconds and also the Subaru WRX STI, which does the dance in 5.1 seconds.

Helping the Focus RS on its way to 62 mph is its new launch control and all-wheel drive systems. Launch control mode may be accessed via the Focus’ selection menu and is easily engaged: simply floor it and dump the clutch. The rest of the work is sorted out by Ford’s Dynamic Torque Vectoring system, which ensures the correct amount of power goes to the correct wheel at the right time.

2016 Focus RS production will soon commence at Ford’s Saarlouis, plant in Germany before the first North American deliveries in Spring 2016.
