Mercedes Celebrates Ventures In Motorsport With C 63 AMG Coupe Edition 1

The S-Class cabriolet and C 63 AMG Coupe won’t be the only new products from Mercedes-Benz at this month’s Frankfurt Motor Show. The automaker has now also pulled the wraps off the C 63 AMG Coupe Edition 1 ahead of its Frankfurt Debut, a limited edition model that serves as a nod to Mercedes’ ventures in DTM racing and motorsports in general.

You may recognize the exclusive color combination of the C 63 AMG Coupe Edition 1, and that’s because it’s the same scheme Mercedes applied to the AMG GT3 show car. That Magno Selenite Grey and yellow combo will be on the C 63 DTM racecar that is also penned to make its debut at Frankfurt and is intended to draw a link to the road car’s racing genes.

Like the standard C 63 AMG Coupe, the Edition 1 will be in two different trim and performance levels. Non ‘S’ Edition 1 models are available in any color and come equipped with an AMG Aerodynamics Package, the AMG ‘Night Package’, matte-black wheels and special interior touches such as yellow contrasting stitching and a microfiber-wrapped steering wheel.

Opting for the more extreme ‘S’ model variant restricts buyers to the grey and yellow combo pictured above and adds lightweight 19- and 20-inch wheels shod in high performance rubber, yellow tire accents, yellow striping and Mercedes’ high performance ceramic braking system.

The same 4.0-liter twin turbocharged V8 found in the C 63 sits under the hood of the Edition 1 and produces 476 horsepower in standard variants and 510 horsepower in ‘S’ models. A rear limited slip differential is also standard and is complimented by Mercedes’ dynamic engine mounts in ‘S’ variants.
