The Rennsport Reunion is the world’s largest gathering of Porsche racecars, Porsche racing drivers, and Porsche collector cars. This weekend the annual gathering will head to Laguna Seca for a few days filled with events pertaining to both vintage and modern Porsche cars.
Rennsport is one of the few places you can see important cars from Porsche’s past run flat out on a racetrack. This year, among those important racecars will be the iconic 917, which gave Porsche its first two Le Mans wins in 1970 and 1971 and also won the 1971 1000 km of Spa.
The exact car that will be at Rennsport V will be the 1000 km of Spa winner. The automaker recently completed a few shakedown laps in the car at Willow Springs Raceway to make sure everything was in order, and did us all a favor by filming the rare sight and posting it to YouTube.
