VW To Be Removed From Dow Jones Sustainability Indexes Following Emissions Scandal

Volkswagen AG stock will be removed from the Dow Jones Sustainability indexes after it admitted to cheating U.S. emissions tests earlier this month, Bloomberg reports.

Sustainability investing organizations S&P Dow Jones Indices LLC and RobecoSAM announced Tuesday VW’s stock will be dropped from the Dow Jones sustainability indexes. The indexes track those companies that rank the best in their respective industries based on economic, environmental and social criteria.

Bloomberg also points out that VW is included on the in London Stock Exchange Group Plc’s FTSE4Good for socially responsible companies, which reviews memberships in June and December. After being dropped from the Dow Jones indexes, it seems possible its FTSE4Good membership could also soon expire.
