Pirelli World Challenge To Add Porsche GT-Cup Class

Touring car racing fans have something new to look forward to in the 2015 season; the SCCA-sanctioned Pirelli World Challenge series is adding a Porsche GT-Cup class to the lineup.

The Porsche GT-Cup class will run with the GT and GT-A classes, while having its own winner’s circle separate from the two. Porsche 991 GT3 Cup cars are allowed into the category, with no permissible modifications – following Porsche Mobil 1 Super Cup rules.

President and CEO of WC Vision/Pirelli World Challenge, Scott Bove, said that they “anticipate 10-15 entries and look forward to the exciting competition within the Pirelli World Challenge GT class in 2015.” We also eagerly anticipate watching the Porsche GT-Cup class in 2015, because with such a legendary marque running the risk of domestication, it will be refreshing to see the automaker still engaged in motorsports.

You can watch the final race of this season on September 12th through the 13th, live on www.World-ChallengeTV.com. Though you’ll have to wait some months for Porsche GT-Cup action.
