Bill Ford, Coworkers Win National Pond Hockey Championship

Breaking News! A recent report shows some very important information from the men and women up at the ‘Blue Oval.’ Alright, perhaps the new 2015 F-150 is not powered by a four cylinder, (not yet!) and Lincoln hasn’t actually announced a flagship, but at least Ford Motor Company Executive Chairman Bill Ford and his team of employees are now holding the winning trophy to the highly coveted, Tier One 50+ Category in the Labatt Blue/USA Pond Hockey championship.

Ice Hockey is a favorite pastime of the Michigan native, and in the hopes to relive the glory days of his childhood, he gathered up some friends and decided to play. The boys hit the road just last week, sticks in hand, attempting to prove their worth against some of the most fearsome competitors Wisconsin has to offer.

When the team eventually laced up and hit the ice, they took the league by storm achieving a 4-0 winning streak and entering the final game with heads held high. Playing side by side with some veteran Ford employees, the Captain’s crew stole the game from the very beginning and never looked back. Final score: A rather lopsided 7 goals to the opponent’s 2.

“It feels great to win,” stated Ford in a quick sit-down interview with USA Hockey.com shortly after his joyous victory. “It was fun to play (River Valley Pioneers) because they’re great guys and we play them every year. We finally beat them which we were due. It was a very clean game, a tough game.” The Ford squad finished  with a satisfying 5-0 record at the Eagle River, WI venue and are now eagerly anticipating the next frozen face-off, in hopes to claim the crown again for the boys back home in Detroit.

Car-enthusiast since birth. British at Heart. Just enjoying the ride!
