Ford GT Named North American Concept Of The Year For 2015

A panel of two dozen jurors has named the Ford GT, which debuted at the 2015 North American International Auto Show in Detroit, the 2015 Production Preview Concept of the Year and the Most Significant Concept Vehicle of 2015.

It’s no surprise the Ford GT took home top honors at the North American Concept Vehicle of the Year awards, as it was easily the most memorable concept car to debut at the Los Angeles, Detroit, Chicago, Toronto and New York auto shows. Not only is it visually impressive, it addresses current trends in the automotive industry such as engine downsizing, turbocharging, using lightweight materials and much more.

The accolade marks the second time Ford has taken the top North American Concept Vehicle of the Year award, with the Reflex hybrid sport coupe concept taking the honors in 2006. Luckily for us gearheads, the GT isn’t destined to remain a concept like the Reflex, with production set to begin in time for the 2016 model year.
