Those who wish to use their trucks to move snow will appreciate Ford’s snow plow prep option for the all-new 2015 F-150.
The option will be offered with the Regular, SuperCab, and SuperCrew cabs, making Ford the only manufacturer to offer a light-duty snow plow prep option across all cab variants. However, the snow plow prep is only available on XL, XLT, and Lariat F-150s equipped with the 5.0-liter “Coyote” V8 engine and four-wheel drive.
Activating snow plow mode with the push of a button temporarily turns off the truck’s nonessential features to provide dedicated power for the plow. Upon taking delivery of a new F-150 with the snow plow prep option, owners will need to have a Ford Qualified Vehicle Modifier purchase and install the plow hardware. To note, the maximum light-duty plow weight will be over 450 pounds.
Ford will announce pricing for the snow plow prep option (excluding the plow) later in 2014, with the all-new 2015 F-150 scheduled to begin arriving in dealerships by the end of the year.
