Everybody loves a good pocket-rocket. Well, for the most part. And until a couple of years ago, Ford wasn’t the first name that came to mind when someone laid out the parameters of 1) fun to drive, 2) hatchback, and 3) affordable. A lot has changed with the arrival of Ford’s wonderful, high-performance Focus ST and Fiesta ST. And it’s the Fiesta ST that seems to have a smile-inducing effect on anyone who drives it, including professional race car driver Randy Pobst.
Pobst’s job is to work Motor Trend’s Best Driver’s Car contenders to the max… meaning that he basically has the best job. Ever. He pushes the little hot hatch hard, receiving a rewarding driving experience in return, shown from the beginning as he enters turn one at over 100 mph.
The Fiesta ST laps the iconic race way in 1:52.25, not breaking any records along the way, but as Carlos Lago narrates, you simply won’t care because the car is simply that good.
