Volkswagen has announced that the 2015 Golf R price will begin at $36,595 with the technology loaded version starting at $39,090.
While the 2015 Golf R price may be a tad higher than some were expecting, it does come with plenty of necessities, including the DSG dual-clutch automatic transmission. Also, Bi-Xenon headlights with LED turn signals and U-shaped LED DRLs are standard.
The 2015 Golf R price also represents the most powerful Golf ever sold in the U.S. market with 292 horsepower. This represents an increase of 36 horsepower and 37 pound-feet of torque more than previous generation model.
While the additional power is nice, VW continues to work on improving fuel efficiency. The new 2015 Golf R is EPA estimated at 30 mpg highway with the six-speed DSG transmission, an increase of 3 mpg over the previous model.
For track fans, the six-speed DSG dual-clutch automatic transmission offers a launch control feature. Using this feature, the car can complete 0 to 60 mph sprint in just 4.9 seconds with a top track speed of 155 mph. The car also offers a new sport suspension, progressive variable-ratio steering, and a stability control system which can be deactivated for track driving. There is also a optional DCC adaptive damping system.
The 4MOTION all-wheel-drive system is carried over from previous models.
VW is offering pre-ordering to customers of the first 500 cars, which we’re sure will have no trouble managing the 2015 Golf R price. The car will be officially launched in the U.S. in the first quarter of 2015 as four-door models with the DSG dual-clutch automatic transmission.
