Tesla Model X Rival To Come From… Land Rover?

Wolfgang Zeibart, Director Group Engineering at Jaguar Land Rover, has sparked the idea of a fully electric Land Rover or Jaguar in the future.

Anyone who follows the automotive industry has witnessed manufacturers’ recent endeavors to lower vehicle emissions thanks to newer – and more stringent – laws and guidelines. Despite the hybrid and EV movement, JLR knows the demand for such vehicles isn’t quite there yet.

Zeibart has shown interest in the prospective Tesla Model X, although it is still a few model years away from production. With hybrids and EVs not showing a decrease in popularity, JLR is waiting to determine the market’s reaction and consumer needs. As Zeibart alluded to in an interview on Autocar, JLR must be aware of market segments and, if the EV sector continues its rise in prominence, the car company will react accordingly.

As for now, nothing has been set in stone. However, the thought of JLR moving towards EVs will be an interesting proposition to consider.
