This Is The Current VW Nigeria Vehicle Portfolio, And Its Various Lineup Opportunities

Thanks to a new automaker-friendly policy, Volkswagen is planning to build a new factory in Nigeria. It’s currently unknown which vehicles the factory will built, but a way to predict that is to determine the brand’s current lineup in the country.

Currently, VW offers seven vehicles in Nigeria, including the:

Cars

  • Polo Sedan
  • Jetta
  • Passat (Euro-market B7-generation)
  • CC

Crossovers

  • Tiguan
  • Touareg

From a positioning standpoint, the brand has some obvious gaps in its lineup that are likely limiting its sales volume in the country. These include such VW stalwarts as the Golf and Beetle, as well as a sub-compact crossover like the Taigun concept. Outside of those global models, VW can also sell its last-generation vehicles and sell them at a more accessible price, as it does in markets like China. Time will tell if VW’s new plant will play a role in filling the gaps in its lineup. Stay tuned to Motrolix as we learn more.
