After a close contest, Car and Driver has named the 2015 Ford F-150 the best truck on the market. The truck beat out the 2015 Chevrolet Silverado by a narrow three points, underlining just how competitive the full-size truck market has become.
During exhaustive testing, editors drove and poured over every detail on a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 High Country, 2015 Ford F-150 Platinum with the 3.5L EcoBoost, 2015 Ram 1500 Laramie Longhorn Limited, and a 2014 Toyota Tundra Platinum. All the trucks, except for the F-150, were powered by a V8, with both the Ram and Tundra sporting 5.7L engines, while the Silverado was equipped with the 6.2-liter L86 — the largest and most powerful motor offered in the vehicle.
And though the contest featured four trucks, it really came down to just the two – the F-150 and the Silverado, with the main difference between the trucks being features, towing capacity, fit and finish, interior styling and second-row comfort and space. Car and Driver felt Ford simply was better in all of these categories, while the Silverado represented a better value and was more fun to drive.
