Ford was the largest and fastest-growing manufacturer of commercial vans in the United States in the first half of 2015, largely thanks to its new Transit. Ford notes the Transit is available in over 58 configurations, making it easy to convert into emergency response vehicles, food trucks and much more.
“Transit customers appreciate the van’s flexibility because it can enable them to right-size their vehicle to the needs of their vocation.” Said Ford’s Transit brand manager, Yaro Hetman. “There are 12 ship-through upfitters located within 30 miles of Kansas City Assembly Plant, making it easy and fast for customers to design their Transit vans to serve their business requirements.”
The success of the Transit helped Ford claim 56 percent of all U.S.commercial van sales in the first six months of 2015, a 48 percent jump year-over-year. Additionally, Ford E-Series and Transit vans were responsible for 80 percent of commercial van sales growth in the first half of 2015.
The Transit surpassed the E-Series as the best-selling full-size van in America just six months after it first went on sale in 2014. Adding to Ford’s van market success is the smaller Transit Connect , which leads the small commercial van segment with a 69 percent share.
